LIGHTNING RELEASES: Virginia Beach, VA (2/2/2015)-It may be the dead of winter, but Virginia Beach, VA-based singer/songwriter David Arn is heating things up with the February release of full-length CD “Walking to Dreamland” and accompanying music videos for tracks “When You Lost Your Situation” and “Walking to Dreamland.”
Released by Lackluster Lyrics,LLC, Arn’s Americana-meets-folk rock sophomore release offers ethereal anthems narrating a well-tread life. Think Tom Waits,Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan. Already, the collection has fostered notable praise, with the soft release of the album’s title track and “Situation.”
In Independent Spotlight, Brett Stewart writes, “Stunning and mesmerizing. It’s bluesy, dark, atmospheric and moody,” while Music Connection Dayton espouses, “From tasty blues and jazz guitar to groovy, cool beats and tones, David provides complex songwriting and soft but confident vocals.”
Additionally, CrossRadar offers:”The album has splashes of color and true creativity,(creating) an atmosphere to cause the listener to stop and pay really close attention. There’s the feeling that something deeper is happening, something other and beyond, as if David Arn has connected with something beyond himself and managed to channel inspiration in audible form.”
“Walking to Dreamland” features contributions from a number of acclaimed musicians including violinist Charlie Austin (veteran of over 250 Grand Ole Opry performances),Ted Doty,Melissa Hollick, guitarist Raz Ben Ari, Nicole Gose, Haine’s “Cowboy” Joyce,Francisco Benitez and Anat Nevo (cellist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra). It was engineered by Rob Ulsh at Master Sound Studios in Virginia and mastered by Yoad Nevo (Pet Shop Boys,Bryan Adams) in London.
The music video for “When You Lost Your Situation” lensed by Croatia-based Filip Dizdar- which captures the spirit of Fellini or Quentin Tarantino-stars a cast of wonderful “misfits,” including Croatian Playboy writer, alt model and actress, Nika Ostoic, S&M performer Cathy Fox; and daring queer Austrian entertainer Paul John.
Arn’s debut album “Postmodern Days” has been featured on NPR stations, while his music has been aired on Delta Airlines commercial flights.
“Walking to Dreamland” will be available February 1 via iTunes and Amazon.
