LIGHTNING RELEASES: North America — (5/22/2014) One challenge brings ‘The Biggest Loser’ goals to peoples’ homes with cash prizes and challenges. The program begs the question: What’s there to lose but weight itself?
With the program motto: “Touching Lives One Pound At A Time,” Healthy Loser is an entirely new health program that provides its participants with a cash incentive by offering $12,000 in cash prizes to each group of 300. The entry fee is $100 and the grand prize is $5,000.
Each contest runs for 3 months, with participants using their own weight loss strategies and methods for the healthy weight loss contest to lose weight fast. After final weigh-in verification, the person or persons who reach 15% or higher will be declared the winners of the cash prizes they qualify for. Aside from the cash payout to the contest winners, HealthyLoser.com also contributes monetarily to the Uswag Orphanage.
“Let’s be honest, money is a great incentive. Shows like The Biggest Loser have received over 250,000 auditions. A quarter of a million dollars is enough to get anyone moving, but weight isn’t just a factor for getting casted. Director focus of how the contestants should look, their impact of their personal struggles and the power of their story all come into play. At the end of the day, it’s a show used for entertainment (money). High ratings are the focus, not the contestants,” says David Chatwin, the founder of Healthy Loser.
In a recent study published by the Journal of the American Medical Association, researchers found that those who have a financial incentive to lose weight were almost five times more likely to reach their target than dieters with no money at stake. Showing that gratification is powerful and many individuals will do anything to keep moving if it means getting cash.
Healthy Loser provides the opportunity for anyone to participate at home (off camera) on their own agenda and workout plan. The challenge has already inspired hundreds to reach their personal goal weights, and with popularity growing exponentially across North America, David’s new goal for Healthy Loser is to touch a million lives.
Founded in 2010, Healthy Loser was originally founded by David Chatwin, who lives with his wife and six kids in Cranbrook BC, Canada. His program operates worldwide through community partnerships, fundraising initiatives, co-branding and referral programs. As North America’s number one community weight loss competition, Healthy Loser proudly boasts an “A” rating with the Better Business Bureau.
