LIGHTNING RELEASES: Philadelphia, PA (5/19/2014) – Instamour, the developer of the cutting edge mobile video dating app of the same name, has secured $150,000 in seed money and was recently named on Techie.com’s Emerging 100 Companies list for 2014. Instamour was honored with a place on this prestigious list as the company helps people form relationships in real time, safer and more securely than other dating platforms available today.
Instamour has been formally accepted as one of a handful of new tech startups to the StartFast accelerator program in Syracuse New York for the summer 2014 program. The designation provides $100,000 in funding including $25,000 for equity and a $75,000 convertible note. This adds on to the initial $50,000 Instamour received for a total of $150,000 raised in this seed round.
The Instamour team is currently seeking to close a round of at least $500,000 in the coming months to scale its business and gain critical mass. “We couldn’t be more excited about investing in Instamour. We think it is a tremendous opportunity in a chronically underserved market,” said Chuck Stormon, Managing Director of StartFast Venture Accelerator.
Instamour has been gaining ground and is attracting a significant user base both in the US and international markets. The company has recently been featured at events in San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas, and Philadelphia and has users in over 20 cities, including New York, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Boston, California, and Chicago. Internationally they are present in Spain, France, Italy, UK, Turkey, Dubai, and countries in both Asia and the Middle East.
“When I first started building Instamour, it was before Vine and Instagram video had been released. I knew my technology was something that would be quickly adopted by people because this is truly the next evolution in mobile dating,” said Jason Sherman, Instamour CEO. “Single people everywhere are looking for a real-time experience, and that is exactly what my team and I are providing them with.”
Additionally, Instamour has recently hired several new team members including Joshua Nicholson, a cross platform developer and Harvard University graduate, Meng-Yi Hsu, an iOS and Android developer from Columbia University, and Josh Detweiler, a user acquisition and globalization expert who formerly worked for MeetMe prior to its acquisition by QuePasa for $100 million. “What drew me to Instamour was the diverse team and how unique the idea was. I didn’t need any convincing to join the team, especially since what they are doing is pretty game changing. Video is the future, and Jason was clever enough to realize that early on. Instamour’s energy and passion shines brighter than most teams I have worked with in the past. I’m excited to grow with them and see this through to the end, ” said Detweiler.
