London, 23rd February 2018 – “The Cloud”, although an inexpensive platform for storage and computation of data, is a public infrastructure. Owners of sensitive data do not want to use cloud computing without encrypting their data. Encryption allows owners of such data to utilise cloud computing for storage: But to index and search that data, at some point it has to be seen “in clear”, at least temporarily making an unencrypted copy of that sensitive data.
Obviously, cloud users want to hide their sensitive data from their cloud provider as do companies using cloud services want to protect their intellectual property from cloud providers and users.
Built initially to securely index speech data, Intelligent Voice’s Privacy Preserving Speech Processing (PPSP) system has been granted Patent Status with effect from 7th February 2018.
The Intelligent Voice CryptoSearch™ software enables a client to encrypt their data (text or voice) with a private key before uploading it to the cloud. The software employs state of the art searchable encryption for the search of encrypted data using encrypted queries in such a way that the cloud does not see the data or even the search term itself. Once the desired data has been located it can be downloaded and decrypted outside of the cloud using the private key. Using NVIDIA GPU technology, blisteringly fast encryption and search can be achieved.
Intelligent Voice developed the system and method along with its educational partners. Coming out of Intelligent Voice’s years of voice processing experience, it uses a novel phonetic based technique to bypass significant speed restrictions which are generally found in similar mechanisms and is a massive leap in encrypted search. The highly accurate “phonetic” approach was made possible using recent advances in AI and Machine Learning.

We have already developed a GPU-accelerated fully homomorphic version of the system, to allow not just encrypted search in the cloud, but encrypted processing as well of voice into text”
