LIGHTNING RELEASES WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (November 11, 2014) –Emmy Williams, founder of Interior Solutions, Inc., a comprehensive interior design firm based in Winston-Salem, received two Excellence in Design Awards from ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) Carolinas. The firm was recognized with second place awards in the categories of “Corporate under 7,000 Square Feet” for design work on the presentation floor for the advertising agency Trone Brand Energy and “Healthcare over 7,000 Square Feet” for design work on Asbury Place in the Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community.
“It is such an honor to receive peer recognition for outstanding design in such competitive categories,” said Emmy Williams, ASID, IIDA. “As designers, we are always striving to expand our limits to achieve our customers’ goals. These two projects allowed us to showcase the diversity of our capabilities with both an out-of-the-box corporate environment and a residential healthcare environment.”
Trone Brand Energy, named a “Small Agency of the Year 2013: Southeast Region” by Advertising Age recently underwent a re-branding that included Williams’ redesign of its presentation floor to include hospitality areas, open display areas, conference rooms and “huddles” —circular spaces for team meetings in a small, casual environment. “The purpose of the space is for the agency to make presentations to new and existing customers, along with meeting spaces for the company,” Williams explained. “The space enhances and encourages collaboration and sets the environment for creativity within the team.”
Asbury Place in Arbor Acres was a 117,000 square foot, three-story new construction project in which Interior Solutions designed the interiors for the Assisted Living space. “We looked at this as a community within a building,” Williams said. “It had 60 units for residents, sitting rooms, café, main dining room, physical therapy room, bathing spa, hair salon and a multipurpose space. Within this amenity-rich environment, we used design to create a positive and pleasant living experience that nurtures the mind, body and spirit. We chose carpeting, light fixtures, fabrics with florals and stripes, and traditionally styled furniture that feels very residential, yet meets commercial fire and durability codes. The style is very traditional, warm and inviting to the people who live there and their visitors.”
With the two award-winning projects, Interior Solutions took a corporate environment and an institutional environment and stretched the interior design beyond the norm. “Our focus,” Williams said, “is to go beyond the ordinary and reflect our clients’ brand and image through careful design and selection of architectural components, furniture and fixtures in order to create a space that will fit their needs.”
