On exam Meb did NOT have a sports hernia!
Meb having seen no less than 50 MDs and chiropractors and had multiple negative CT scans, X-rays and MRIs Dr. Maharam looked at all these films and indeed they were all negative. After watching Meb run,he saw he had biomechanical flaws in his running gate that made him suspicious of another problem.
Dr. Maharam convinced Meb to get one more MRI to add to his pile of films, but this time Dr. Maharam would direct the cuts not to the standard cuts but cuts specific to the area hewas suspicious of.
And low and behold, I found a stress fracture in his pelvis that everyone missed (it was hidden within the cuts of standard MRIs). Then with proper rehab and his coach’s assistance, Meb healed and went on the win NYC.
Dr. Maharam is available for TV, radio and print interviews.
